Frequently asked questions

How do I activate my eSIM?

Open your account, choose burnSignals, and select View activation profile on your enabled line. On iPhone, use Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM → Use QR Code. After installing, check Settings → General → About for a carrier-settings update, restart, and test both incoming and outgoing calls. See the activation guide for the complete checklist.

Data works, but outgoing calls show Call Failed. What should I do?

Confirm that the Phone app is using your burnSignal line. Check for a carrier-settings update and restart. On our US test line, manually selecting T-Mobile restored outgoing calling when automatic network selection failed. If T-Mobile is available, try it under Settings → Cellular → your burnSignal line → Network Selection, with Automatic switched off. This is a tested workaround for that line, not a guarantee for every device or location. Carrier menus vary.

Incoming callers hear temporarily unavailable. Is activation still pending?

A working outgoing call does not establish incoming-call readiness. Keep the working network selected, toggle Airplane Mode for five seconds, and retest from another phone after a few minutes. We have not confirmed a universal carrier activation delay. If incoming calls still fail, contact support with the approximate time, time zone, number called, device model, iOS version and carrier-settings version. Registration or incoming routing may need investigation.

Why does the phone show another provider name?

New automatic eSIM purchases request a burnSignal white-label profile. Older profiles may retain their original provider name, and the phone controls the exact activation wording. A line label can be changed on the phone; this does not change the underlying profile or network.

Can I scan the QR code again or move the eSIM?

Treat the activation QR as private. Do not assume it is reusable or transferable. The provider may reject activation-code retrieval after installation. Do not delete an installed eSIM to troubleshoot calls; contact support before replacing or moving it.

What does service cost?

eSIM setup is $5 with $1 monthly maintenance per line. Physical SIM setup is $10 with $5 monthly maintenance per line. Setup is paid separately through secure checkout. Maintenance is deducted from prepaid account credit beginning one month after the line is first observed enabled. Data is charged separately at $0.10 per MB. Voice is charged at current burnSignal voice rates. Physical SIM assignment and shipment are handled by burnSignal.

What happens when my balance runs out?

Lines sharing your account balance are suspended at −$1.00 or below. A successful credit top-up restores balance-suspended lines when the balance becomes positive. Manually paused lines stay paused. Usage reports and network actions can be delayed, so the $1 grace is not a guaranteed spending cap. Pausing a provisioned line does not cancel its monthly maintenance.

Where can I see minutes, data and charges?

Open the Usage tab in your account. It shows total usage across connections, a daily minutes graph, per-line totals, and an expandable daily usage-and-charges table. The credit box shows your balance without individual usage debit rows. Completed records are checked every five minutes; open sessions and delayed records may appear later. Daily analytics use UTC.

Are ordinary calls and SMS encrypted end to end?

Ordinary cellular calls and SMS are not end-to-end encrypted. Use supported encrypted applications when conversation-content protection is required. Cellular connectivity still involves network identifiers and service metadata.
